I achieve things too

Posted by Mitchell

Woah, waaa! What a week.

At the dawn of this week there was a gloomy aura attached to each perspective from which I tried to impose a sense of optimism upon. There really was no other way to look upon each variant of challenges, from test to meeting to Japanese oral presentation. I had them all there, forever lurking in the back of my mind knowing that only once I put the calling to rest would the thoughts reside.

It was something I did not like, something I did not approve of but something I did not try to change. For the most part I’m referring to the oral presentation I had due, but unfortunately I decided that my time was better spent finishing the book Kevin suggested, quite the read I may add — the genre, technology meets history totally appealed to me. I could babble on about the book and all its finer points but suffice to say, it was a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Taking such pleasure in finishing off this book ended up leaving me with an oral presentation due the next day and me without an idea of how to approach it.

Without going into specifics, I got it done and you could almost go as far to say that I nailed it.
I begin to postulate what ramifications this kind of effort-result equation could leave me; I spend minimal effort the night before and get a decent result. It’s not good for my head, it should eventually fail me. The only reason thus far I haven’t messed up would be the fact that I manage to properly assess the task before me and allocate minimalistic time requirements for it.
Alas, has the importance of university eluded me to this extent? this far?

But from there to here, I had a good week when it all concluded. I managed to meet up with my course coordinator and get him to sign off on my student exchange application forms which was quite the relief for me. I’ve spent alot of time worrying about the prospect of not having academic credit transfer setup for me but yay.. it’s been done and I’m good to go, literally.

In addition to that, yes my first real test for the semester. An hour and a half Networks exam that I must say I think I did quite well in. I studied on the day, of course, and once again had shackled myself down with the constraint of ‘minimalistic time requirements’ theory,  but I did well, so thus far it’s a well working theory and I’d advise others to give it a shot!

Out with the boys -

Now really, gobsmacked.. literally? perhaps.
On Tuesday I did manage to get myself slapped an additional two times putting me at a whooping four slaps received and zero slaps dished out. Quite the dissatisfaction and I think it’s about time I made it a priority to slap someone else, as childish as it seems.

After finishing aforementioned oral presentation I was feeling quite ecstatic and managed to get the guys to the guild bar. And there we stayed for a good 3 hours or so.. Jace and myself decided that we were going to get drunk and go our next lecture but that never happened and so came my demise with my first slapbet for the night. Alot happened, alot more than I can recall I’m sure, but I had a good time and the others did too; especially at Southbank, the destination where the second, third and fourth slaps from slapbets made that night occurred. After that it was to Anthony’s car where he then drove us home, just now I wonder.. how did he do that? he was drinking as well. Whatever the result of the inquiry into that mystery I’m thankful to him, especially when he reminded me that I left my broken bag in his boot.. I would have drove away.

And I think, that was my week. I achieved things.. and should be getting my passport delivered to me sometime within the next few days. Oh and in addition to all those ‘things’ that I ‘achieved’ I also managed to send in my JLPT application and even get an academic reference from Master Yap when me and Jace met him for lunch.

Quite a long blog entry this week, while I’ll always blog at least once on and around the weekend I’ll try to blog throughout the week, if I can find the time, to make these things shorter.

Keep it real player.
