Weekend thread (part 2)
Screw part 2, to sum up Saturday quickly.
After taking a ‘shortcut’ through Mt. Tambourine we made it to Surfers and found Adrenaline Park, it’s here we went for our bungee jump and had a go at the slingshot ride. Bungee jumping really is something, that first two seconds when you jump really makes you aware of the fact that you threw your life away just now until the cord snaps back and you know you’re okay, it really is amazing.
The slingshot ride wasn’t all that, it consisted of me and Mundy repudiating terrorist ploys that were probably setup by the arab looking people that rode before us, unfortunately the entire thing was video taped with surprisingly awesome sound quality and said arab looking people were subjugated to my offensive rhetoric and despite being warned midflight by Mundy about the tape, I continued for the sake of humility.
Ahh, Mundy and myself went to my dad’s business Christmas party that was located on a survivor-like island. Naturally we had VIP status that meant free drinks of any kind and unlimited free fooooods. That was nice, a big ass boat with a bar was involved, and another bar on the island and a weird New Zealand band. It was a good night as they normally are and that’s the end of that.

It has come! almost executive confirmation that I will be going to Japan to my first preference uni pick! this is indeed great news for me and Jace (whom is also going) as we weren’t 100% sure until now.
Well, even now we aren’t 100% sure but we’re pretty sure. As it stands, our university, QUT has nominated both of us for a semester’s study (August – December) next year in 2009 at the Kansai Gaidai campus in Hirakata, Osaka, Japan.

This.. is.. awesome… It’s absolutely the best university you could hope to go to with dorms at a reasonable price. And talk about location! Kansai Gaida is basically the middle of Japan surrounded by the historical Kyoto and the modernized Tokyo, Osaka is a mix between the two. My only regret right now is that the Japanese yen is so strong, but forecasts for next year when I go predicted that it would level out a bit which is good news for travellers to Japan such as myself.
Ah, so next step will be getting a package from our host institution that contains a bunch of stuff including documents that will allow us to get our student visas for Japan. Until I get those, I can’t say that I will be 100% confirmed to go as Kansai Gaidai could reject us however host institutions normally set a limit of people that can go as has been done and go with the university’s nomination, I’ve been told that it is unusual for a host institution to refuse nominations.
